JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Thursday, July 7, 2016) – Competition will continue today at stop No. 6 on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), the J-Bay Open. Things will get underway today at 7:40 a.m. with the remaining heats of elimination Round 2 and the WSL Top 34 will battle to avoid early elimination in three-to-five foot surf at Jeffreys Bay. “We had a big day yesterday and we wanted to make the most of that swell,” said WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow. “We have some north-west wind today but it’s fairly light and supposed to get lighter throughout the day and there are still some good sets coming through. We are on, starting at 7:40 a.m. with Round 2. It’s unlikely that we’ll go any further than that but we’ll keep an eye on it.” Two-time event winner and 2012 WSL Champion Joel Parkinson (AUS) will take on Matt Banting (AUS) in Round 2 Heat 7.
