Inaugural Nightmare:

As far as global big waves go, Nazaré in Portugal is one of the newest and the scariest. Like the waves that explode on the shelf from deepwater, the spot seemed to emerge out of nowhere. All of a sudden Garrett McNamara was riding arguably the biggest waves in the world there via PWC assist. And now, guys are paddling it; on Tuesday, the inaugural Nazaré Challenge kicked off in massive waves. Here’s the highlights — just don’t watch them before bed.
