It was with very sad news from Louis Ros back in early December: Ron Rousch had a fatal heart attack.
Ron lived in Pensacola when he was young and learned to shape surf surfboards under the guidance of Brain Waters at Islander Surfboards.
He moved to Hawaii in the early ’80s and perfected his craft of shaping.
Some of the best surfers in Hawaii rode his Local Motion shapes, including Larry Bertlemann and Buttons.
Ron became the licensee for Local Motion Surfboards in Florida.
He shaped in Brevard County for a number of years and eventually moved back to Hawaii.
.
I found a neat FB post that Ron shared on Oct. 17th that said,
“For all you’ve done for me, God, I just want to say, Thank you”
