The Kona Surf Film Festival is a creation of Chad Campbell and his friends & family. Chad, a surfer and filmmaker himself, founded the Festival in 2003 as a means of bringing together Hawaii’s surfing family for a communal love of all things surf! The Festival has always been a forum for independent filmmakers to showcase their work to a stoked audience. Additionally, each year the Fest benefits the surfing community on the Big Island and beyond. The Fest has raised money for various organizations including Kulana Huli Honua, the Betty Kanuha Foundation, Protect Kohanaiki Ohana, Seathos, and the Surfrider Foundation. In 2015 the Festival is supporting Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and Innovations Public Charter School.
