The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro QS 1000 Brings Contenders Back to the Iconic Lineup

HALEIWA, Oahu, Hawaii (Monday, November 17, 2024) – The World Surf League (WSL) Hawaii/Tahiti Nui Qualifying Series (QS) and Regional Longboard QS contenders are back for The Hawaiian Islands HIC Haleiwa Pro, a men’s and women’s QS and Longboard Regional QS 1000, at the iconic lineup of Haleiwa beginning November 25 through December 7. Winter on the North Shore is in full swing after incredible conditions at The Hawaiian Islands Sunset Pro and now competitors are set for more with the women’s QS season culmination set to conclude as the men’s and women’s longboard contingent join the action.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority returns to support Hawaii’s most talented up-and-coming athletes and another big opportunity on the famed North Shore for a third stop on the island of Oahu.

“HIC is proud to continue our support of competitive surfing in Hawaii for the local athletes. It’s amazing how many world class surfers have been raised in the Aloha State,” said CEO of HIC Leigh Tonai. “The more opportunities they have to showcase their talents and gain competitive experience in Hawaii, the better chance they will have to qualify for the Championship Tour and compete on the international stage.”

As one of the North Shore’s marquee venues, Haleiwa Ali’i is capable of testing both QS and Longboard QS contenders with a high-performance canvas and heavy barrels when conditions turn on. Hawaiian Island Creations (HIC) will once again support the event and athletes looking to compete among the world’s best and qualify for the 2025 Challenger Series and 2025 World Longboard Tour.

With current Hawaii/Tahiti Nui QS No. 1’s Eweleiula Wong (HAW) and Luke Tema (HAW) ready for more after their Sunset Pro wins, and Wong’s recent Semifinal appearance at the U.S. Air Force Super Girl Surf Pro, they now prepare to fend off the elite talents once more. The likes of defending event winner, and recently qualified CT rookie, Jackson Bunch (HAW) and reigning Hawaii/Tahiti Nui Regional QS victor Keala Tomoda-Bannert (HAW) are just a few of the heavy hitters ready to take on Haleiwa.

Plus, after their wins at the Local Motion Surf Into Summer, WSL Longboard Tour mainstays Kelis Kaleopa‘a (HAW) and Kaniela Stewart (HAW) return for more time in the jersey and lead the field for the first-ever Longboard Regional QS event held in Haleiwa. This marks a massive moment for longboard competitors taking on the North Shore’s waters with an elite field ready to put on a show.

The event window opens November 25 through December 7. Event organizers will select the best four days of the event window to run competition.
