It goes without saying that last winter served as a serious turning point in high performance and big-wave surfing. From the 60-foot mountains of water that were ridden at Waimea Bay during the 2016 Eddie Aikau Big-Wave Invitational to the dozens of death-defying sessions at Pipe, the North Shore of Oahu was arguably the epicenter of all the El Niño madness. Surfing’s elite repeatedly pushed the physical and mental limits of man, virtually rewriting books on modern biology as we know it. The good folks from Scary Blanket put together this face-melting compilation of all the greatest moments from last winter on the North Shore. Buckle up, folks. This one’s an absolute banger.
