PRAIA DE CARCAVELOS, Cascais/Portugal (Tuesday, October 3, 2017) – Action at the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais will recommence today after three consecutive lay days with Round 4 Heat 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the back-up site of Guincho. The Cascais Women’s Pro has been called off for the day. “We have a pretty strong onshore wind and some sizey waves but there are a lot of opportunities and some clean faces,” Travis Logie, WSL Deputy Commissioner said. “Waves are fun and guys in the free surf were ripping so we’re going to complete Round 4, move straight into Round 5, and do as many heats as we can before it gets dark.” First to compete will be local favorite and Championship Tour (CT) rookie Frederico Morais (PRT) against Tomas Hermes (BRA) and fellow CT rookie Ethan Ewing (AUS) in Round 4 Heat 5. New WNW swell builds Tuesday into Wednesday with head-overhead surf for Guincho. Carcavelos picks up with waist-shoulder high surf showing for Wednesday morning. Fading swell/surf for both Guincho and Carcavelos on Thursday. Good conditions prevail each day for Carcavelos, while best conditions for Guincho will be in the first half of mornings. Surfline. The Cascais Women’s Pro runs in conjunction with the Men’s QS 10,000 event, the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais 2017.
